Count (ct)

A count (ct) is a movement pattern. Typically, one rep equals one count, but in exercises that are unilateral one will see 2 ct as one rep, or in exercises that can be executed quickly one will see 4 ct as one rep.

Examples

2 ct exercises

  • Lunges
  • Shoulder taps
  • Twists
  • Toe touches

4 ct exercises

  • Bear crawl
  • Crab walks
  • Flutter kicks
  • Jumping jacks
  • Mountain climbers

Single Count

All exercises are assumed to be single count unless specifically stated otherwise.

Example: Single Count

  • 2 ct lunges means that lunge with the first leg is the first count, then lunge with the second leg is the second count and thereby one rep.
  • Single count lunges means that lunge with first leg is one rep, then lunge with the second leg is two reps, and so on.

Hint: Single Count

When instructed to do an exercise, never verbally question the count per reps, unless you and potentially your team are willing to do more reps.
